If you’ve never booked a massage before, the menu can look a bit confusing. The good news is there’s no wrong answer. Here’s a quick guide to the three massages I offer, and how to pick the right one for you.
Swedish massage
Swedish massage is the classic. It uses long, flowing strokes and gentle kneading, and the pressure is usually light to medium. It’s a lovely choice if:
- it’s your first massage
- you mainly want to switch off and relax
- you’d like a full-body treatment, or a focus on back, neck and shoulders
Deep-tissue massage
Deep-tissue massage uses slower strokes and firmer pressure, working into areas that feel tight. It isn’t meant to be painful. You’re always in charge of the pressure, so just say if you’d like more or less.
It suits people who already enjoy massage and prefer a firmer touch.
Aromatherapy massage
Aromatherapy massage is slower and softer, using a blend of essential oils chosen for the session. Many people pick it simply because the scents make the whole experience feel calmer.
Some oils aren’t suitable during pregnancy or alongside certain conditions. That’s one reason I’ll always ask a few questions before we start.
Still not sure?
Tell me how you’d like to feel afterwards — relaxed, lighter, ready for bed — and I’ll suggest the best fit. You can see all treatments here, or just get in touch and ask.
Holistic treatments are offered for relaxation and wellbeing and aren't a substitute for medical advice. If you have a medical condition or are pregnant, please check with your GP.
